BackOnTrack
Healthcare offer many therapies ideal for expectant mothers and
new babies.
Acupuncture
Traditional Chinese acupuncture has long been used in the treatment of obstetric disorders and childhood ailments. Conditions in which acupuncture has proved effective include:
Mothers
• Nausea
• Fatigue
• High blood pressure
• Backache
• Insomnia
• Breech position
• Oedema
• Induction
• Postnatal depression
• Perineal pain
• Breast engorgement/mastitis
• Anaemia
• Birth Preperation from 36 weeks (to ripen the cervix, assist labour starting naturally and progressing effeciently). The intention is to reduce the incidents of medical inductions and interventions that can occur if women become overdue, or if labour is long.

Acupuncture for children Lynda enjoys treating children as they can respond so quickly to treatments. The treatments vary from adults in that only 3 to 6 needles are used, and they are only briefly applied. Children under 5 years old tend to be most comfortable on a parent/carers lap while the needles or moxa is applied. The majority of children find it as unpleasant as having their faces wiped, and are easily distracted by a book or toy after the treatment. Whilst the ages vary from newborn to puberty, the majority of children treated have been under 3 years old. Any questions, please call the clinic and ask to speak to Lynda.

Counselling
Helps overcome emotional and psychological difficulties associated
with the traumas of pregnancy, childbirth and parenthood. Through
counselling you can explore and develop your strengths, coping skills
and support networks, helping you to become more stress-resilient
Cranial osteopathy
A useful adjunct to the structural approach in certain cases, especially
when dealing with infants and young children. Babies who suffer from
sleeping difficulties, feeding problems and behavioural trouble often
respond well when treated using gentle cranio-sacral techniques. These
work with the body's involuntary mechanisms, helping to restore a
calming balance to natural biorhythms by gently massaging the child’s
skull.
Cranial osteopathy can also help mothers suffering from postnatal
depression.
Homoeopathy
Can help during pregnancy with:
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Backache
• Varicose veins
• High blood pressure
• Swollen ankles
• Food cravings
• Haemorrhoids.
Homoeopathy can help in many labour situations, often where there
is no conventional alternative:
• Speeding up contractions
• Bruising and soreness
• Feelings of anxiety
• Promoting a sense of ease and relaxation.
In the month following the birth, homoeopathy helps with:
• Breast-feeding difficulties
• Postnatal depression
• Infantile eczema
• Colic
• Sleep problems.
Hypnotherapy/NLP
Among the benefits of hypnosis for pain relief during labour are a
lower risk of side effects on mother and baby, when fewer drugs or
no drugs at all are used; babies that have fewer drugs in their system
also sleep better and are better breast-feeders. Hypnotherapy helps
reduce mental and physical exhaustion.
Reflexology
The ancient art of reflexology works on specific organs of the body
by stimulating reflex points on the feet or hands, encouraging the
body's own capacity to heal.
Reflexology is one of the safest, most supportive therapies for
pregnant women. It is extremely relaxing and calming for the mind,
body and baby.
Reflexology can help
• Reduce stress
• Induce relaxation
• Lower high blood pressure
• Improve circulation
• Revitalise energy
• Relieve morning sickness and nausea.
It can also be helpful for turning breech babies and to induce labour.
